Child Support
The statutory formula for calculating child support in California looks at a number of factors, the most important being the respective incomes of the parties and the amount of time the child spends with each parent. At our office, we will review any proposed child support order to ensure that it complies with state guidelines.
Our goal is to paint an accurate picture of the financial situation of all the parties, so that the support order is based on fairness and fact. In this state, everyone ordered to pay child support is subject to wage assignment: The money will come directly out of your paycheck, before you ever even see it. We will look at all sources of income, including self-employment, seasonal and commission-based income and make certain that all sources are appropriately considered. If your spouse is underemployed, we will introduce evidence to show their true earning capacity, bringing in forensic accountants when necessary. Spousal Support
In California, spousal support (as known as alimony or spousal maintenance) is granted at the court's discretion. This case-by-case decision is based on a number of factors, including:
